On Nov. 8 at 5:35 p.m., a man secured his three-year-old daughter in her car seat in a 1998 Dodge Durango parked at a residence in the 7000 block of Colonial Lane in Hughesville.
With the engine running, he returned briefly to the residence. When he exited the residence, he found the vehicle in the woods behind the residence. It had struck a tree and his daughter was lying injured on the floor board beneath steering column.
The man took his daughter and her younger brother, who was secured in the vehicle, to the Benedict Volunteer Fire Department for medical assistance. The girl was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries to Calvert Memorial Hospital. Her brother was not injured.
Officer P. McDonald investigated.
