Teen Criminals Steal Jackets at Gunpoint


On Oct. 27 at 3 p.m., a 15-year-old- and 16-year-old- Waldorf boys were walking in the 10800 block of Nautica Place in Waldorf when they were approached by three men who implied they had a gun and demanded the boys' jackets. The boys complied and the suspects fled in a gold Jeep driven by a fourth suspect.

The vehicle description was broadcast and Officer Y. Austin observed the vehicle traveling north on Crain Highway in Waldorf. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver did not stop and fled onto southbound Leonardtown Road.

The driver continued onto Lakewood Place but the driver lost control of the vehicle as it turned onto Sweetwood Place and struck trees and the side of a residence. The suspects fled the vehicle but were quickly apprehended. A building inspector responded and determined the residence was safe to occupy and no one was injured.

The suspects were identified as a 15-year-old, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, all of Upper Marlboro. The boys were charged with robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, destruction of property more than $500, theft more than $500, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft less than $500.

The 16-year-old was charged additionally with reckless driving, fleeing and eluding and multiple traffic citations and is being held at the Cheltenham Youth Facility. The other boys were released to their parents.
