Women's Fair Seeking Nominations for Alpha and Pioneer Awards

The 2006 Charles County Women's Fair is seeking nominations for the Alpha and Pioneer Awards that will be presented during ceremonies to be held at the Fair on Saturday, March 4, at the North Point High School for Science, Technology and Industry in Waldorf, MD.

The Alpha Award will be presented to a woman living in Southern Maryland or from Southern Maryland who has been a "first" in her field. The Pioneer Award will be presented to an individual or organization that had made a major contribution to women in general and/or to women in Southern Maryland.

In addition, financial awards will be presented at the Fair to organizations that serve the needs of women in the community. Award amounts will be based on funds available, but historically range between $250-$1,500.

For more information, nomination forms for the Alpha and Pioneer Awards, and organization applications for the financial awards, contact Women's Fair Coordinator Amy Eastburn-Gallo at voice phone 301-392-5000 or via e-mail to ccwomensfair@gmail.com.

The deadline for receipt of nomination and application forms is February 1, 2006.

The Charles County Women's Fair is being sponsored by Charles County Government and the College of Southern Maryland and hosted by the Charles County Women's Commission.
