On Saturday, October 1, DFC. M. McCarroll was on patrol at 12:06 a.m. when he observed a burgundy Nissan run the red signal at Md. Route 2 and Md. Route 260 in Owings. DFC. McCarroll activated his emergency lights and contacted the driver, Chad A. Grinder, 24, of Shady Side. Several field sobriety tests were performed unsatisfactorily. An MVA check revealed his drivers license was currently suspended and a search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of suspected cocaine. Grinder was charged with DWI and Possession of Cocaine and was transported to the detention center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
