The 2005 fall trout stocking began on Monday, October 11. After delays due to low then high water levels in most Maryland streams, crews from Maryland's Fisheries Service have begun stocking lakes and streams, and will continue over the next week or two. A table showing which locations have received fish along with the number of fish stocked is available at http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/recreational/index.html.
A freshwater license and trout stamp are required to possess trout in Maryland and to fish in special trout management areas. A license may be obtained online through our toll-free telephone line at 1-800-918-2870. Also, fishing and hunting licenses can be obtained online at www.wildlifelicense.com/md/.
The DNR trout stocking program is funded entirely by the sale of freshwater fishing licenses and trout stamps and Federal Sportfish Restoration Program (Wallop-Breaux) funds which are generated by anglers and boaters tax dollars.
