Teen Robbed at Great Mills Pool


On 09/25/05, at approximately 1300 hours, patrol officers responded to the report of a fifteen year old female being robbed in the parking lot of the Great Mills Swimming Pool. Members of the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and the investigation revealed that the suspect was William Justin Gray Jr. The victim was taking the short cut going to Great Mills High School when the suspect came behind her and snatched her purse from her shoulder, an pushed her. The suspect made off with the victim's cellular phone and purse. The Victim was not injured and required no medical attention.

Off duty Officer Lt. Daniel Alioto located the Suspect and a foot chase ensued. Patrol Officer Deputy First Class W. Daniel Ray and Lt. Alioto gave chase and caught the suspect to the rear of several trailers. A struggle ensued and the suspect was eventually taken into custody. Nearly all of the victim's property was recovered nearby. The suspect was turned over to Detective First Class William E. Raddatz, BCI for further investigation.

The defendant was charged with Robbery, Assault 2nd degree, and theft under $500.00, and taken to before the St. Mary's County District Court Commissioner. He was issued a bond of $10,000.00 cash.
