Charles County Sheriff's Office Seeks Leads in Rape Investigation

The Charles County Sheriff's Office and Charles County Crime Solvers are seeking information about a rape that occurred early in September. Detectives are releasing a photograph of the suspect obtained from surveillance equipment and are hoping someone will be able to identify him.

The man wanted for the rape of a 7-Eleven employee is shown standing outside the store next to the window.

Sheriff's officers responded to 7-Eleven at 1065 St. Ignatius Drive in Waldorf on Sept. 4 at 4:15 a.m. for the report of the rape. Investigation revealed the victim, a 42-year-old woman, was standing outside when a man approached her, brandished a knife and forced her to a wooded area near the business, where he sexually assaulted her. The man then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black man between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs between 150 and 160 pounds. He was wearing dark pants, a white T-shirt and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Det. P. Duckworth at 301-609-6501. Those with information may also call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment and all callers may remain anonymous.
