6 of 12 Liquor Stores Sold Alcohol to Underage Police Cadet During Compliance Check


On Friday evening September 16, 2005 Deputies of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division and Troopers of the Maryland State Police conducted a joint alcohol compliance check operation. Assisted by Underage Cadets from the Maryland State Police, officers conducted twelve alcohol compliance checks at establishments throughout the county with six establishments failing the compliance checks.

The establishments which successfully passed the compliance checks were: Cap't. Sam's, Murphy's Town & Country, Stone's Store, Lighthouse Liquors, Korner Karryout and the FDR 7-11.

The establishments which failed the compliance checks were: Chaptico Market, Village Liquors, Fred's Liquors, Boatman's Mini Mart, Abell's Tavern and Dash Inn Food Stores in California.

The establishments which failed the compliance checks will be brought before the Alcohol Beverage Board for St. Mary's County. The employees who made the sales were all issued civil citations for furnishing alcoholic beverages for consumption to a person known to be under the age of 21 and will have to appear in the District Court for St. Mary's County.
