NAVSEA Indian Head Awards $96M Contract for Man Transportable Robotic Systems

Foster-Miller Inc., Waltham, Mass., is being awarded a $96,103,100, firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity modification to previously awarded contract (N00174-03-D-0002) for procurement of additional 250 – 1200 Man Transportable Robotic System (MTRS) production units. This modification increases the number of production units under the MTRS contract from 250 to 1200 (ea), and adjusts unit prices as stipulated in the original contract. The MTRS is a small robotic system used for remote reconnaissance of unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices. The increase in production quantity is due to the urgent and compelling need for units that are forward deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Work will be performed in Waltham, Mass., and is expected to be completed in October 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Indian Head Division, Indian Head, Md., is the contracting activity.
