Charles Commissioners Extend Deadline for Applicants for Citizens' Work Group for Waldorf Sub-Area Plan Implementation

The Charles County Commissioners have extended the deadline until Friday, September 23, 2005, for residents to volunteer to serve on a new 12-member Citizens' Work Group to implement the Waldorf Sub-Area Plan, adopted in 2004. The mission of the Work Group will be to assist staff and the public in developing new zoning as part of the implementation of the Waldorf Sub-Area Plan.

* County Board of Education/teachers
* Local businesspeople
* Affordable housing representatives
* Church communities

The Work Group will be expected to commit to approximately one year of service, and to attend approximately five to six meetings throughout their course of service. It is anticipated that the Work Group will begin meeting in fall 2005.
