Charles County Police Reports


ASSAULT: On Sept. 6 at 5:38 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Dakota Street in Bryans Road for the assault in progress report. Investigation revealed Rebecca Lorraine George, 41, of Bryans Road assaulted a 44-year-old Bryans Road woman. The woman was not injured. George was arrested and charged with first degree assault. She is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer S. Hawkins investigated.

FLEEING AND ELUDING: On Sept. 6 at 10:50 a.m., Officer R. Gottschall attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on Acton Lane near Hamilton Road in Waldorf for displaying registration plates issued to another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop. Officers pursued the vehicle and deployed stop sticks, which the vehicle struck, before stopping on Berry Road. The driver was identified as Jermaine Cornellius Dorsey, 23, of Waldorf. Investigation revealed Dorsey was wanted in Charles County for fleeing and eluding and driving while suspended. Dorsey was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, second degree assault, reckless driving and numerous traffic charges. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer R. Gottschall investigated.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: On Sept. 6 at 3:52 a.m., Officer C. Caldwell observed a blue Dodge Caravan fail to stop at a stop sign at Chippewa Street and Cornell Drive in Bryans Road. Officer Caldwell attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the four occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. A K9 track was conducted with negative results. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from a residence on Cornell Drive. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Sometime between 9:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and 1:10 a.m. Sept 6, suspect(s) stole a 1993 burgundy Dodge Shadow from a residence in the 10 block of Meadowside Court in Indian Head and fled the scene. The vehicle was located shortly thereafter on Blair Road. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer R. Anderson is investigating.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Sept. 2 at 12:39 p.m., a Honda Civic driven by Kenneth Wade Baden, 20, of Waldorf was traveling north on St. Peters Church Road in Waldorf, the vehicle left the roadway and he overcorrected and struck a tree on the southbound side. Baden and his passenger, Michael William Hutson, 20, of Waldorf, sustained incapacitating injuries and were flown to Prince George's County Hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter. Speed was a factor. Charges are pending. Officer D. Walker is investigating.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 1, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 6800 block of Bumpy Oak Road in La Plata, stole a jewelry box and an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer R. Gilroy is investigating.
