The Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services is pleased to announce that the Department will open a new child care program for infants and toddlers. The program will begin August 29, 2005 at the Hollywood Recreation Center, 24400 Mervell Dean Road, in Hollywood. The program will be operated by the Department's Licensed Extended Day/Youth Camps Division and is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education's Office of Child Care.
This program is a collaborative effort between the Department, St. Mary's County Public Schools and the Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center. The program will serve fifteen children from 6 weeks to 3 years of age. The center will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is an annual $50.00 non-refundable registration fee and a $100 tuition deposit; the monthly tuition for the program is $650.00.
The adult to child ratio is 1:3 and all staff have received First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR training. Primary caregivers have completed specialized training in infant and toddler development and have been certified by the Maryland State Department of Education's Office of Child Care. Additional training has been completed in blood borne pathogens and child abuse and neglect. All staff have undergone criminal background checks.
Child care spaces are filling quickly for the new program.
