Theft Over $500

On 9/01/05 Dfc. B. Connelly responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for the report of a Theft. Investigation revealed unknown culprit(s) entered a construction site and removed the wheels and tires from a 1989 Chevrolet. Loss is estimated at $680.00.

Theft Under $500

On 9/01/05 Dfc. B. Connelly responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for the report of a Theft. Investigation revealed unknown culprit(s) removed property of the victim from the yard. Loss is estimated at $438.00.

Theft Over $500

On 9/01/05 Dfc. B. Connelly responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for the report of a Theft. Investigation revealed unknown culprit(s) stole several automotive items from the victims vehicles. Loss is estimated at $1,620.00.

Warrant Service

On 09/02/05 Dfc. Roberts served an arrest warrant on Philip Edwards, Jr. of Hughesville for Violation of Probation. Mr. Edwards was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was incarcerated under no bond.

DUI Arrest

Deputy Milton Pesante of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office was patrolling in the Chaptico area when he observed a vehicle enter his stationary radar at 71 MPH in a 50 MPH zone. Deputy Pesante activated his emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle. Deputy Pesante identified the driver as Suspect Dewayne Marcel Countiss age 25 from Leonardtown. Upon making contact with the driver, Suspect Countiss, Deputy Pesante detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Suspect Countiss was administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Suspect Countiss was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired. Suspect Countiss is currently awaiting a Preliminary Inquiry court date.
