Car Hits 6 Pedestrians on Budds Creek Rd at 2 a.m.


On August 13, 2005 at 0200 hours, Deputies of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police responded to Clifton's Bar, 23490 Budds Creek Rd., Clements, MD for a reported fight. While responding to the call, St. Mary's County Emergency Communications Center additionally advised there was a motor vehicle accident involving pedestrians in front of the bar.

The initial investigation revealed a 2004 Toyota Highlander operated by Stephanie Faye Stone, age 25 of Clements MD was westbound on Budds Creek Rd when she collided with six pedestrians in the roadway. Deceased in the collision is pedestrian Louis Anthony Short, age 42 of Mechanicsville, MD. Seriously injured were pedestrian Julius Andrew Fenwick, age 21 of Lexington Park, MD and a juvenile male pedestrian, age 16. Three additional pedestrians were injured in the collision. A juvenile male, age 14 of Lexington Park, James Kelvin Fuller Jr., age 23 of Avenue, MD and Phillip Aaron Young, age 18 of Hollywood, MD. The driver and passengers of the striking vehicle are not reported to be injured.

Investigation of this collision is continuing and under review by St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigators Cpl. Wayne A. Milam, Dfc. Douglas S. Mills and the St. Mary's County States Attorney's Office. Injured were treated on the scene and transported to hospitals by the Seventh District Rescue Squads and Trooper 7 of the Maryland State Police.
