John Lewis Hicks Arrested for Sexual Assault of a Young Child


On August 6th, 2005 the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD for the reported sex offense of a child. Contact was made with the parents of a three (3) year old female and a six (6) year old male who believed a subject, identified as 43 year old John Lewis Hicks, may have sexually assaulted their children.

Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) arrived at the hospital and further investigated the case. Numerous witnesses were interviewed and evidence was collected from the residence located in Mechanicsville, St. Mary's County, MD - where the offenses occurred. The suspect was located later that evening and detectives determined the suspect had sexually assaulted at least one (1) of the children on August 5th, 2005. John Lewis Hicks was placed under arrest by detectives and charged at the St. Mary's County Detention Center with one (1) count of 3rd Degree Sex Offense and one (1) count of Sex Abuse of a Minor. Additional charges are pending and the investigation is on-going. The suspect is currently being held on $50,000 cash bond.
