Rice Busted: Do You Think All Those Drugs Were For His Own Personal Use?


On August 5, 2005, members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Vice/Narcotics Unit with assistance from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Team served five search and seizure warrants. The warrants were in connection with a controlled dangerous substance investigation on Robert W. Rice Jr. 28 YOA of California, Maryland.

A search of Robert W Rice Jr.’s primary residence resulted in the recovery of 89 grams of Cocaine Hydrochloride (street value $8,900), drug paraphernalia and $11,005 in U.S. Currency. An additional $2,563 in currency was located in a 2001 Lincoln LS registered to Robert W Rice Jr.

A search of a 2005 Ford F150 truck registered to Robert W Rice Jr. resulted in the recovery of 16.2 grams of Cocaine Hydrochloride with a street value of $1,620.

The 2001 Lincoln LS and 2005 Ford F150 were seized along with a 2000 Suzuki Motorcycle and trailer. The estimated value of the seized assets is $60,000.

Robert W. Rice Jr. was arrested and charged with possession of Cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are anticipated pending a review by a St. Mary’s County Grand Jury.
