Man Loses Arm in Rock Crusher


On August 1 at 8:47 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the Francis O. Day Company, Inc., Charles County asphalt plant at 12300 Billingsley Road in Waldorf for the report of an employee who severed his arm. The employee was operating a rock crusher when he stuck his arm in it for an unknown reason. His arm was severed between his elbow and shoulder. Waldorf Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to treat the man. He was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to a hospital for treatment. There is no evidence of foul play. The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene to investigate.
