Meters are an integral part of the distribution system and are designed to safely supply your home with electricity. Removing a meter base from its secure position can cause serious injury and jeopardize the stability of the installation through arcs of electricity, explosions, or fire. Meters are designed to be safe, but should only be accessed by authorized utility personnel. A meter base should never be pried or loosened from its secure location.
