Charles County Sheriff's Office Seeks Information about SMECO Theft


The Charles County Sheriff's Office and Charles County Crime Solvers are asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect who stole property from Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative. The Sheriff's Office has obtained a photograph of the suspect from a surveillance camera.

On June 12 at approximately 3:35 p.m., Officer J. Timko responded to SMECO at 15045 Burnt Store Road in Hughesville for the theft report. Investigation revealed the suspect had just stolen cooper wire from a spool and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 30s. He was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and black sunglasses and he has gray and black hair. He fled in a late 90s model white Chevrolet two-door truck with chrome bumpers. The vehicle did not display any tags.

The Sheriff's Office is displaying the photograph on its website at http://www.ccso.us. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Timko at 301-609-3282, Ext. 394, or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information about an investigation that leads to an arrest or indictment.
