THEFT: On July 17 at 1:26 p.m., Officer D. Walker responded to Waldorf Dodge at 2450 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a man attempting to steal tires. When Officer Walker made contact with one of the employees, he observed the suspect attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle. He ordered the suspect to stop but the suspect accelerated and nearly struck the officer and the employee. The suspect fled northbound on Crain Highway with three stolen tires into Prince George's County. No one was injured. The suspect's vehicle was reported stolen in Montgomery County and is described as a 2003 green Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer edition, with tan trim. The vehicle bears Maryland registration 168M214. DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On July 17 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Officer J. Timko responded to a residence in the 11700 block of Tiffen Court in Waldorf for a citizen's request for advice about a domestic issue. Investigation revealed the man's estranged girlfriend, Jacqueline Eugenia Harrod, 39, of Lusby, had allegedly threatened the man and left the residence but may still have been in the area. Officer Timko told the victim to obtain a protective order and left the residence. At approximately 2:35 a.m., Officer Timko returned to the residence to see if Harrod had returned. Harrod was at the residence and the victim reported she had taken his cellular phone and refused to return it and leave his property. Harrod became disorderly and refused to comply with the officer's orders to return the cell phone, stop yelling and leave the residence. Officer Timko attempted to place Harrod under arrest but she resisted. Harrod was eventually subdued and charged with disorderly conduct, failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order by a police officer and resisting arrest. She is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
DRUG POSSESSION: On July 17 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's Officers responded to the Lowes Cineplex at 11115 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of a fight. While en route, officers learned several of the suspects were running across the parking lot toward St. Charles Towne Center. Upon arrival, Officer J. Timko observed a male running from another officer who was following the suspect in a patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated. Officer Timko stopped and exited his patrol car and began to pursue the suspect, who ran inside Kohl's department store in the mall. Officers located the suspect attempting to hide inside a women's bathroom. The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old Clinton boy. At the request of the officer investigating the fight, Officer Timko transported the suspect back to the parking lot of the movie theater. Before placing the suspect in his patrol car, Officer Timko conducted a search of the suspect, which yielded marijuana. The officer investigating the fight advised there would be no charges related to the fight. Officer Timko charged the boy with possession of marijuana and released him to his mother.
ASSAULT ON POLICE: On July 16 at 3:49 a.m., Officer R. Peters responded to the 2000 block of Aldermans Place in Waldorf for the citizen's report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Upon Officer Peter's arrival, he located a man inside the vehicle and attempted to check on him. The man assaulted Officer Peters, but Officer Peters was able to subdue the man and arrested him. The man was identified as Kelly Ryan Gaskins, 21, of Charlotte Hall and was charged with second degree assault, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and destruction of property more than $500 for damage he caused to the vehicle. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
RACIAL, RELIGIOUS OR ETHNIC INCIDENT: On July 15 at 12:15 p.m., Officer D. Walker responded to the corner of Shearwater Drive and Starling Drive in Waldorf for the destruction of property report. Investigation revealed suspect(s) spray painted a swastika and other unidentified makings on top of a utility box. It is unknown when the incident occurred.
