On July 17 at 3:20 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Goldeneye Place in Waldorf for a shots fired report. Investigation revealed three witnesses were standing outside in the parking lot of Goldeneye Place when a suspect in a silver or gray passenger car drove past, fired three shots in the direction of a residence, and fled the scene. A shot struck that residence and the residence next to it. A victim who was said to have been shot in the leg fled the scene.
While officers were conducting their investigation, the Sheriff's Office received a call from a resident across the street who advised the victim was at that residence. Sheriff's officers located the victim, Bradley Wayne McDermott Dr., 24, of Waldorf, and found he had sustained a minor injury.
Further investigation revealed McDermott was wanted in Charles County for assault and reckless endangerment. McDermott was arrested and a search revealed he was in possession of crack cocaine. In addition to being served the warrant, McDermott was charged with possession of cocaine. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Officers searched for the vehicle involved in the shooting but did not locate it. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Dodge is investigating.
