Yes, You Can Still Get Arrested for Jaywalking


St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Deputy Angela Muller was working at the Leonardtown Carnival when she observed Suspect Gregory M. Colbert step in front of a vehicle traveling on Lawrence Street without being in a crosswalk and he did not yield to the motor vehicle. Deputy Muller had just completed clearing foot traffic from the same area when Suspect Colbert stepped into the roadway. Suspect Colbert was arrested for Failing to Yield the Right of Way to an Approaching Vehicle When Not in the Crosswalk. A search incident to arrest revealed Suspect Colbert had CDS (Marijuana) and CDS paraphernalia in his possession. Suspect Colbert was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia and is currently awaiting a court date in District Court.
