PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, MD- Air Expo '05 will take off here Sept. 3 and 4 when Naval Air Station Patuxent River hosts the Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. Parking and admission for Air Expo '05 are free. Gates open at 9 a.m.
The Blue Angels will headline the show and highlight the graceful, high-precision maneuvers of the four-plane "diamond" and fast-paced high performance maneuvers of the solo pilots in the number five and six jets. All six jets will then perform together in the renowned delta formation.
Also headlining the show will be the Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, and the A-10 East Coast Demonstration Team.
Civilian performers include aerobatic pilot Patty Wagstaff in her Extra 300S, Dale Snodgrass in his F-86 Sabre and Dan Buchanan in his motorless Airwave glider.
Also taking to the skies will be the Yak Demonstration Team, Skytypers, Red Eagle Air Sports, Eric Beard in his Yak 54, "Russian Thunder," Paul Stender in his RamJet Dodge Jet Truck, and Rag Wings and Radials Vintage Aircraft.
Past will meet present and future with the static displays at Air Expo '05. Displays will include historical aircraft retired from service and current models and variants being used by warfighters today.
No weapons or explosives, coolers, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, pets, bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, scooters or backpacks are permitted on the show site. Vehicles, diaper bags and camera bags will be searched.
NAS Patuxent River, which reports to Naval District Washington, is located in St. Mary's County approximately 65 miles south of Washington, DC.
