$1.5 Million Dedicated to Course and Amenities as Multi-Year Capital Improvement Program Continues
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., July 11 /PRNewswire/—The Calvert County Department of Economic Development (DED), in conjunction with Billy Casper Golf (BCG), announces a series of major facility enhancement projects to Chesapeake Hills Golf Club that have already made a significant impact on course conditions for local golfers.
Bunkers have received new drainage, fresh sand and trimmed edges that help define the contours of the course's fairway and greens. Newly paved cart paths have also been added. In 2003 and 2004, Chesapeake Hills' fairways were replaced with lush, high-quality Bermuda grass.
In coming months, additional projects for the course will include an expansion of tees and greens, updated irrigation and drainage, clubhouse enhancements, a pavilion for events, new golf carts, parking lot resurfacing and facility landscaping. All enhancement projects will total $1.5 million.
"We have worked hard to add a number of enhancements to Chesapeake Hills," says Tony Cianci, Mid-Atlantic Regional Vice-President of Operations. "All of the projects were undertaken with the goal of making the course the best it can be, and players are already enjoying the great strides we continue to make."
Always a true value golf course, Chesapeake Hills extended reduced winter rates during the cart path construction and sand trap enhancement projects. With those projects now complete, seasonal rates of $29 on weekdays and $39 on Saturdays and Sundays before 12 p.m. have resumed.
Local golfers are already noting the enhancements at the course. "I am very pleased with what's happening at Chesapeake Hills," said Calvert County Attorney Emanuel Demedis, an avid player and course regular. "I would encourage anyone who has not played here in a while to come and see the improvements first hand. I think they will be pleasantly surprised."
A 6,545-yard, par-72 layout featuring gently rolling hills and tree-lined fairways, Chesapeake Hills also includes a number of strategically placed ponds and creeks that provide a variety of challenges. The course is located in Lusby, Md.—just minutes north of historic Solomons Island.
