Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a Leonardtown residence for the reported "Man with a Gun". The information was that a Suspect pointed a handgun at the Victim, James Mason. Upon arrival Deputy Margaret Smolarsky observed Suspect James Lambert Hammett outside with a female (later identified as Lora Elaine Walzer). Suspect Hammett was armed with a .22 caliber handgun. Both Suspects failed to stop and retreated into a nearby residence. All of the house occupants were ordered out of the residence. Suspect Hammett was placed into custody as was Suspect Walzer. A third Suspect, Glenn Delahay, exited the residence with the handgun on his person. All three were arrested and charged as followed:
Suspect Hammett, First Degree Assault
Suspect Walzer-Failure to Obey a Lawful Order of a Police Officer
Suspect Delahay-Handgun Possession
Additional Charges may follow pending presentation to the Grand Jury.
