Chaptico Man Arrested for DUI After Exceeding Speed Limit


St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Deputy Milton Pesante was patrolling and operating radar in the area of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. A vehicle traveling southbound on Three Notch Road entered the radar beam exceeding the posted speed limit of 55 MPH. Deputy Pesante initiated a vehicle stop and identified the driver as Ronald Sylvester Buckler, Jr. 29 years of age of Chaptico. Deputy Pesante detected an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Suspect Buckler's breath and person. Suspect Buckler was administered standard roadside field sobriety tests, which he failed. Suspect Buckler was arrested, transported to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office where he was charged with DUI and is currently awaiting a Preliminary Inquiry Hearing in the District Court.
