On June 16 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Officer C. Gass observed a vehicle traveling north on Crain Highway near St. Mary's Avenue weaving it and out of its lane. Officer Gass conducted a traffic stop and found the driver, Steven Scott Sovine, 42, of La Plata, to be intoxicated. Sovine was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, failure to drive right of center and negligent driving. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
