On June 3 at 3:28 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 4400 block of Eagle Court in Waldorf for a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft in progress. Upon the officers' arrival, they located an unoccupied Lincoln sport utility vehicle with its engine running. The officers contacted the owner and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Prince George's County. A K9 team responded and searched the area. Investigation revealed several other vehicles on Eagle Court, Bluebird Drive and Lancaster Circle had also been broken into.
While officers searched for the suspects, Cpl. T. Huntt observed a Chevrolet Tahoe being driven suspiciously on Bluebird Drive. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver did not stop. The suspects fled on foot near St. Patrick's Drive. One of the suspects, a 17-year-old Capital Heights boy, was apprehended. He was charged with three counts of Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft Scheme More Than $500, Theft Less Than $500, seven counts of Malicious Destruction of Property More Than $500, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Rogue and Vagabond, Fourth Degree Burglary, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and Fleeing and Eluding.
