DRUG POSSESSION: On May 30 at 12:55 a.m., Officer C. Gass was on northbound Crain Highway near Preference Drive in La Plata when he observed a Honda weaving in and out if its lane. When the officer conducted a traffic stop, he detected a strong odor of marijuana. Investigation revealed the driver, Willard Tam Harvey, 28, of King George, Va., was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Harvey was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
DRUG POSSESSION: On May 27 at 6:50 p.m., Community Policing officers were conducting a plain clothes assignment in the Waldorf area when the observed three people who they believed were smoking drugs on Ell Lane near the playground. As the officers approached the group, two of the people fled on foot but the third person, a 17-year-old Waldorf boy, was apprehended. Investigation revealed he was in possession of marijuana. He was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The boy was released to his mother.
DRUG POSSESSION: On May 25 at 1 p.m., Officer D. Baker responded to the St. Charles Towne Plaza Shopping Center on Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf for the citizen's report of a suspicious vehicle occupied by two men and a woman who were driving in the area and smoking drugs. Officers located the vehicle making a left turn from the shopping center onto Smallwood Drive West. The vehicle then turned onto St. Patrick's Drive and Officer Baker conducted a traffic stop. A consent search of the vehicle yielded marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle, James Russell Steinhauser, 19, of Waldorf, was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
