On May 25 at 1:44 p.m., Officer C. Caldwell responded to Target at 3300 Western Parkway in Waldorf for the shoplifting report. Investigation revealed David Alex Bartles, 19, of Waldorf concealed merchandised and attempted to leave the store without paying but he was detained by a loss prevention officer. Bartles was charged with Theft Less Than $500 and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on May 19, two suspects stole a wallet from an 82-year-old woman's purse at Safeway at 3129 Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road and fled the scene. The suspects then used the victim's credit card at CVS Pharmacy and Super 8 Motel. One suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion. He is tall and thin, has short hair and was wearing a sweatsuit. The other suspect is described as a black female between 40 and 45 years of age and between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall. They are possibly driving a dark green Ford Aerostar van. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer C.
