Newburg Man Fires Shotgun to Scare Girlfriend; More...


RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On May 15 at 12:53 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 14700 block of Banks Odee Road in Newburg for a citizen's report of hearing gun shots and someone yelling in the area. Officers determined which house the yelling was coming from, and the occupant complied with officers' requests to exit the residence. Officers did not find any other occupants in the home. Investigation revealed Jamie Lee Lacey, 26, of Newburg was having an argument with his girlfriend over the telephone and fired shots from a shotgun over the Potomac River to scare her. Lacey was also found to be intoxicated. Further investigation revealed there were boaters in the water, however, no one was injured. Lacey was charged with Reckless Endangerment. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer S. Kirsch investigated.

THEFT: Sometime between 8 p.m. on May 12 and 3 p.m. on May 13, suspect(s) stole a red Lowe's-brand pressure washer from a barn in the 3700 block of Laurel Drive in Indian Head and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer C. Caldwell is investigating.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 4:30 p.m. on May 11 and 7 a.m. on May 12, suspect(s) stole a refrigerator, range, dishwasher and a microwave from a home under construction in the 8800 block of Spice Court in Waldorf and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer R. Peters is investigating.

DRUG POSSESSION: On May 12 at 9:06 p.m., Officers C. Black, P. Hood and C. Schmidt of the Community Policing Unit were on bicycle patrol in the 4100 block of Bluebird Drive in Waldorf when they observed a suspicious man. When the officers approached the man, the man fled on foot. Officers quickly located him hiding in bushes. The man was identified as Kevin Matthew Gilman, 18, of King George, Va., and he was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Obey a Reasonable and Lawful Order of a Police Officer. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
