17-year-old Temple Hills Boy Flees Police in Waldorf


On May 12 at 7:08 p.m., Officer B. Buchanan responded to Rivermont Drive in Waldorf for a citizen's report of a suspicious vehicle. The officer located the vehicle which then started to flee the scene toward Barksdale Drive. Officer Buchanan started to follow the vehicle but was stopped when a dog struck his cruiser. The officer observed the vehicle continue to flee the scene after it struck a curb in the 300 block of Smallwood Drive.

A few moments later, the Sheriff's Office received a report of a single motor vehicle crash in the 300 block of Smallwood Drive. Responding officers determined the vehicle involved in the crash was the suspicious vehicle reported on Rivermont Drive. Witnesses reported that the driver and a female passenger fled to the rear of a nearby business. Officers quickly located the passenger. Officers later located the driver, a 17-year-old Temple Hills boy, and charged him with Theft More Than $500, Reckless Driving, Driving Without a License and Driving Unregistered Vehicle. He was released to his mother. The female passenger was not charged. Officer P. Anderson investigated.
