The Charles County Sheriff's Office and Charles County Crime Solvers are seeking the public's assistance in the investigation of two armed robberies that have occurred in the parking lot of a local grocery store. The Sheriff's Office has released a composite sketch of the suspect in these robberies and is asking for assistance in identifying him.
The robberies occurred April 29 at 11:45 p.m. and May 5 at 12:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Food Lion at 3200 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. The man approached women who were alone and entering their vehicles in the parking lot. In both robberies, he brandished a handgun, demanded money and stole the victims' purses. He fled on foot south on Old Washington Road.
The suspect is described as a light-complected black male with short hair. He is between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. He does not have any facial hair and is in his 20s or early 30s. During the April 29 robbery, he was wearing a dark green shirt and during the May 5 robbery, he was wearing a green hooded jacket, white T-shirt, white sneakers and dark pants.
Detectives believe the robberies are related. The victim in the May 5 robbery provided the description for the sketch.
