The Board of Commissioners for St. Mary's County and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services are pleased to announce this year's Summerstock performance will be "Beauty and the Beast." This is a wonderful show for the entire family and is designed for all audiences.
Auditions will be held for ages 8 - 21 wishing to participate in the performance. Audition dates are May 12 & 13, 2005, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on May 14, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Chancellor's Run Regional Park. Only one audition session is required per person.
The musical is based on the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a small town, who meets a Beast who is actually a young prince whose lack of compassion has trapped him in a spell placed on him by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love, the spell will be broken and he will be transformed back to his former self.
Performances will be held at the Great Mills High School Auditorium from July 28 * 31, 2005. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening shows begin at 7:00 p.m.; the Saturday matinee show begins at 1:00 p.m.; and Sunday evening show begins at 5:00 p.m. Admission prices for the show are $10 for ages eleven to adult and $5 for children ages ten and under.
