Female Teenager Arrested for 7-11 Armed Robberies


On February 23rd, 2005 at approximately 5:50 am, law enforcement personnel responded to the 7-Eleven Store located on Point Lookout Rd. in Leonardtown, MD for the reported armed robbery. The suspect was described as a white female and an undisclosed amount of money was taken before she fled the area in a vehicle.

On that same day at approximately 11:32 pm, law enforcement personnel responded to another reported armed robbery at the 7-Eleven Store located on Three Notch Rd. in Charlotte Hall, MD. The female suspect fled the area prior to police arrival and she matched the description as the suspect in the earlier robbery in Leonardtown.

Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) further investigated the cases and a suspect, identified as nineteen (19) year old Vanessa Marie Long, was developed. Witnesses were located who identified Long as the suspect in both robberies and other evidence was obtained.

On May 4th, 2005 detectives arrested Vanessa Long and she was charged with two (2) counts of Robbery and two (2) counts of Theft Under $500. She is currently being held at the St. Mary's County Detention Center awaiting her appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
