Arrest Made in Ongoing Theft of Funds from Local Pet Clinic


On 04/06/05 the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations began an investigation into a theft scheme at the Lucky Ones Pet Clinic. Over a time period spanning from February 2005 to April of 2005, thousands of dollars were stolen from the pet clinic's checking account. The investigation revealed that Suspect Sandra Lynn Wells, a 35 year old Lexington Park woman, had stolen the funds. The suspect was arrested and charged with several counts of Theft Over $500, Theft Scheme Over $500, and Theft Under $500. The suspect was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center awaiting an appearance in front of the District Court Commissioner.

The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
