The St. Mary's County Recreation and Parks Board and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services invite citizens to the Board's meeting of Thursday, May 5, 2005, at 5:30 p.m., in Room 14 of the Governmental Center in Leonardtown for a presentation on the Myrtle Point Park Concept Plan.
The Concept Plan was developed by the park planning firm of Rhodeside and Harwell, Inc. with information gathered from the Myrtle Point Park Master Planning Workshop held on February 26, 2005. Additional public comment will be accepted during the Board meeting.
Myrtle Point Park is located on the scenic Patuxent River in California, Maryland. The County acquired the 192 acre waterfront property in 1997 and since that time it has been used by the public for hiking, nature study, bird watching, picnicking, fishing and wading along the shoreline. Examples of amenities to be considered include (but are not limited to): hiking and nature trails; a canoe and kayak launch; an amphitheatre; restroom facilities; accessible walkways; picnic areas; play equipment; a nature/heritage/visitor center; multipurpose grass areas; scenic overlooks; beach access; and parking areas.
