Calvert County Police Blotter for Week Ending April 26, 2005


Destruction of Property

On April 15th, 2005 at 8:55 pm, Dfc Slone and Deputy Brown were working a security detail at the Tiki Bar in Solomons, Md. They were in the parking lot area of the of 81 Charles St., Solomons, Md. when they heard glass breaking. As they rounded the corner they observed a white male wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts walking away from the scene. He was the only person in the area. Based on his proximity to the scene and the fact his hand was bloody, Christopher Andrew Coppage, 29 years old of Woodbridge Va. was taken into custody and charged with destruction of property. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

2nd Degree Assault/Resisting Arrest

On April 15th, 2005 at 10:45 pm, Dfc Phelps was patrolling in the area of The Chesapeake Biological Lab on Solomons Island. He saw what appeared to be a fight in the parking lot. He stopped to investigate and found the suspect, Michael S. Rearick, 33 years old of Lusby, Md. had assaulted the Lab’s Security Guard. Dfc Phelps told Rearick he was under arrest. He failed to comply with Dfc Phelps’ commands and turned and shoved Dfc. Phelps. He continued to resist and had to be taken to the ground to be handcuffed. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with 2nd Degree Assault and Resisting Arrest.


Theft

On April 17th, 2005 at 5:30 pm, Deputy R. Cox responded to the 11000 block of Mohican Lane, Lusby, Md. for a reported theft. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) removed three pieces of the victim’s fence and removed two dogs from his yard. There are no suspects at this time.

CDS Violation

On April 17th, 2005 at 6:07 pm, Dfc Figueiras and Sgt Kontra conducted a traffic stop on Rt. 260 and Boyd’s Turn Rd., Owings, Md. Based on observations made during the stop the passenger, Dwight K. Louers, 49 years old of Capitol Heights, Md. was searched and found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of cocaine, a search of the vehicle revealed a baggie containing suspected marijuana and a hand rolled cigarette containing suspected marijuana. The driver, Denise G. Pena, 44 years old of Ft. Washington, Md. was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and DUI. Both were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

Destruction of Property

On April 19th, 2005 at 10:51 am, Deputy Burggraff responded to the 8300 block of Evergreen Rd., Lusby, Md. for a reported destruction of property. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) destroyed the rear window of the victim’s car by shooting it with a BB gun. There are no suspects at this time.

Animal Cruelty

On April 19th, 2005 at 9:00 am, Deputy Burggraff responded to the 7800 block of Pine Blvd, Lusby, Md for a reported animal cruelty. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) placed a plastic bag in the victim’s yard. The bag contained meat and suspected rat poison. There was a threatening note pertaining to the victim’s dog located near the bag. Anyone with information on this case should contact Deputy Burggraff at 410-535-2800.

Destruction of Property

On April 19th, 2005 at 4:56 pm, Deputy Ward responded to the 8000 block of Sycamore Rd., Lusby, Md. for a reported destruction property. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect shot the victim’s dog with an unknown type of gun. It is believed to be a pellet or small caliber gun. The dog was taken to the veterinarian and treated for the injury. There are no suspects at this time.

Burglary

On April 20th, 2005 at 5:32 pm, Deputy Robshaw responded to the 500 block of Armiger Rd, Huntingtown, Md. for a reported burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) broke into the victim’s shed and took his motorcycle. There are no suspects at this time.

CDS Violation

On April 22nd, 2005 at 12:12 am, Deputy Bell conducted a traffic stop on Rt 261 in the area of the Rod and Reel restaurant. Based on observations made during the stop the operator, William J. Gold, 52 years old of Rockville, Md. was placed under arrest for DUI. A search of Gold revealed one blue and pink pill. The pill is suspected Hydrocodone. Gold was and charged with DUI and possession of CDS. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

Burglary

On April 22nd, 2005 at 7:10 am, Dfc Wahlgren responded to the construction site located at 11760 H.G. Trueman Rd., Lusby, Md. for a reported burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) cut the lock from a storage container and removed tools from it. Anyone with information on the case should contact Dfc Wahlgren at 410 535-2800.

Disorderly Conduct

On April 23rd, 2005 at 12:23 am, Deputy Milam responded to the Gray Ray American Legion Post located at 2150 Sixes Road for a reported large fight. He observed a large crowd and determined three people were the acting disorderly and cause the group to be unruly. He attempted to remove the three from the scene by telling them to leave. The three refused and began to come towards Deputy Milam. Based on his observations, Deputy Milam placed Antonio W. Chase, 18 years old of California, Md. and Michael D. McKee Jr., 19 years old of No Fixed Address and a juvenile under arrest for disorderly conduct. Chase and McKee were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with disorderly conduct. The juvenile was transported to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and charged on a youth report with disorderly conduct and released.

Tampering with a Motor Vehicle

On April 23rd, 2005 at 7:00 pm, Dfc Naecker responded to the 1900 block of Hatfield Road Huntingtown, Md. for a Tampering with Motor Vehicle call. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) damaged the doorframe on the driver’s side of victim’s truck. The unknown suspect used an unknown tool to damage the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

CDS Violation

On April 23rd, 2005 at 10:15 pm, Deputy Robshaw responded to Driftwood Beach, Lusby, Md. for reported suspicious vehicle. He contacted the driver and received a consent search for the vehicle. Deputy Robshaw found a baggie containing suspected marijuana under the front driver’s seat. The driver, Andre D. Dickens, 21 years old of Lusby, Md. placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of marijuana.

CDS Violation

On April 24th, 2005 at 1:03 am, Deputy Bell responded to Chaney’s Bar for a suspicious vehicle. Deputy Bell made contact with passenger and detected an odor of burnt marijuana on his person. He asked the passenger exit the vehicle. Tfc. Keen who was also on the scene observed the passenger drop a non-conventional smoking device on the passenger’s seat. The passenger, Robert C. Palese, 44 years old of Nottingham, Md. was placed under arrest. Based on observation made at the scene the driver, Jerome R. Lurz, 48 years old of Baltimore, Md. was placed under arrest for DUI. A search of his person revealed a baggie containing suspected marijuana. The suspects were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where Palese was charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia and Lurz was charged with DUI and possession of CDS and CDS paraphernalia.

On April 24th, 2005 at 11:00 am, Deputy Cox responded to the 3400 block of Quail Court in Huntingtown, Md. for a reported destruction of property. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) damaged the victim’s mailbox with an unknown object. There are no suspects at this time.

Destruction of Property

On April 24th, 2005 at 11:16 am, Dfc Foote responded to the 3600 block of Harbor Road, Chesapeake Beach, Md. for a reported destruction of property. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) scratched the victim’s vehicle with an unknown object. There are no suspects at this time.

Burglary

On April 25th, 2005 at 12:36 am, Deputies Elliott, Cress, Wilson and Bell responded to the 2400 block of Ridgeview Dr., Owings, Md. for reported burglary in progress. A perimeter was setup around the house. Two males ran from the front door of the home. They were ordered to stop but they refused. A foot chase ensued, Keith A. Baxter 23 years old of North Beach, Md. and John A. O’Sullivan 31 years old of North Beach, Md. were taken into custody. Baxter and O’Sullivan were transported to the Detention Center where they were charged with 1st Degree Burglary.
