MOU Signing Ceremony at Indian Head set for Monday, April 25

MOU Signing Ceremony at Indian Head Will Recognize Alliance Between UM, CSM, Base and Elected Officials Committed to Investing in the Future of Energetics Intellectual Capital

INDIAN HEAD, MD - On Monday, April 25, Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) will participate in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony to show his support for the Center for Energetic Concepts Development (CECD) and the work they are doing to develop, preserve, and advance our military's energetics capabilities which are critical to sustaining and advancing the superiority of the United States in energetics and weapons fields.

Representatives from the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance, the University of Maryland, the Indian Head Division Naval Surface Warfare Center, and the College of Southern Maryland have long recognized the importance of educating the next generation of energetics experts and established a partnership in 1998 to create the Center for Energetic Concepts Development (CECD) - the nation's only advanced full spectrum education program to address research and development in energetics.

The MOU that will be signed on Monday is an expansion of the CECD partnership. Signers will again formalize this important alliance by signing an agreement seeking to encourage and implement expanded cooperation and partnership opportunities among their organizations, including support for the Energetics Technology Center (ETC), one of the key buildings to be built at a new Technology Park in Western Charles County.
