Charles County Sheriff's Office Seeks Public Comment Regarding Grant Application

The Charles County Sheriff's Office announces it will apply for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) through the United States Department of Justice. The grant allows states, tribes and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on local needs and conditions.

The Sheriff's Office is eligible for $82,568 through the grant, which combines the Byrne Formula and Local Law Enforcement Block Grant programs to provide agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where they are needed most. JAG funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and criminal justice information systems.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office invites citizens wishing to make comments or review the Sheriff's Office's JAG application to contact Capt. Michael Wyant at 301-932-3049.
