MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On April 10 at 12:58, Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Westdale Court in Waldorf for the report of a stolen 2005 Nissan Altima. At 1:27 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received the report of a man acting disorderly at Jimmy's Paddock at 4740 Crain Highway in White Plains. The man was said to have left the parking lot of Jimmy's Paddock at a high rate of speed in a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle on Westdale Court. At 1:30 p.m., Sheriff's officers responded to Crain Highway at the intersection of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed a 43-year-old man of no fixed address was driving the stolen Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed when he struck a 2002 Ford Explorer stopped at the red light on northbound Crain Highway. The Explorer then struck a 1994 Nissan Maxima, which struck a 2004 Nissan Maxima. The driver of the stolen vehicle sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown to Prince George's General Hospital. The driver of the Explorer, a 46-year-old Leonardtown woman, and her 16-year-old daughter, also sustained incapacitating injuries and were transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center. The driver of the 1994 Maxima - an 18-year-old La Plata woman - and five juvenile passengers in her vehicle between the ages of 14 and 15 sustained minor injuries. The driver of the 2004 Maxima, a 35-year-old White Plains woman, did not sustain any injuries. No charges have been filed. Officer B. Buchanan is investigating.
THEFT: Sometime between 10:30 p.m. on April 9 and 12 a.m. on April 10, suspect(s) stole a birdbath from the front yard of a residence in the 10 block of Beth Court in Indian Head and fled the scene. The birdbath is made of white concrete and has turquoise sea horses painted on it. The Sheriff's Office is investigating whether a small red truck a citizen reported seeing in the area is related to the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer E. Budd is investigating.
RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: On April 8 at 2 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Chinaberry Lane in Indian Head for the report of a motorcycle operating reckless in the area. Officer J. McKenzie located a man pushing the motorcycle in the 5200 block of Indian Head Highway. When Officer McKenzie approached the man, he pushed the motorcycle onto a private driveway and fled on foot. While officers were searching the area, a citizen told officers the man riding the motorcycle had been hiding in the woods and was heading toward a white mini-van. Officers located the mini-van, conducted a traffic stop and located the man inside the van. During their investigation, officers found the motorcycle was reported stolen in Indian Head on Feb. 18. The man was identified as Joezer Alexander Boyd, 20, of Indian Head and was charged with Theft More Than $500, Theft Less Than $500, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Driving Without a License and Displaying Registration Plates Issued to Another Vehicle. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. The other occupants of the van were not charged.
