ARMED ROBBERY: On March 27 at 12:40 a.m., the victim parked her vehicle in front of her residence in the 3000 block of Heathcote Road, in Waldorf. After exiting the vehicle she was approached by an unknown suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot. The area was checked by patrol officers, however, the suspect could not be located. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 22 years of age, dark complexion, approximately 5' 03". He was wearing a gray hoodie pulled over his head and was armed with a small black handgun. ASSAULT: On March 27 at 10:06 pm., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the parking lot of Club Icon in the Pinefield South Shopping Center in Waldorf for the reported fight which possibly involved firearms. Investigation revealed an unconscious male lying in front of club Icon with a large laceration to his head. Officers observed a large white SUV attempting to leave the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and the occupants were detained. The passenger compartment was searched for weapons which may have been used in the assault. During the search a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from the rear seat. The rear seat passenger was placed under arrest for the possession of this handgun. The driver of the vehicle was a victim of the same assault as the above mentioned victim. The driver/victim was also issued a citation after it was determined that he was driving on a suspended license. The original victim was transported to Southern Maryland hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: On March 28 at 12:49 a.m. the Charles County Sheriff's Office received a call for a burglary in progress at the J & W Market on Bensville Road, in Waldorf. Upon officers arrival damage was observed to a boarded up front window and footprints in the mud leading to the rear of the business. Cpl Brown and his K-9 began a track and within minutes the accused was located hiding in the woods to the rear of the business. During his apprehension the suspect was bitten by Cpl. Brown's K-9 and was transported to Civista Medical Center by Sheriff's officers for treatment. The suspect was treated and released from Civista and was transported to the Sheriff's Office. The suspect was released to his father. Damage was estimated to be $150.00. Officer S. Hawkins is investigating.
