Police Search for Suspect Who Fled After Traffic Stop


FLEEING POLICE: On Feb. 23 at 8:40 p.m., Officer E. Leukhardt attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green Jeep Cherokee traveling at a high rate of speed north on Thompson Lane. The driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle while it was still moving and fled on foot toward the park in Woodland Village. The vehicle continued traveling unoccupied toward a residence on Thompson Lane. Officer Leukhardt immediately jumped into the vehicle and stopped it approximately 3 feet from the residence. Officers, including a K9 team, conducted a search for the suspect but the suspect was not located. A search of the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer Leukhardt is investigating.

THEFT: On March 9 at 1:20 a.m., a suspect entered a vehicle parked at a residence in the 5200 block of Greeneville Drive in Bryans Road, stole clothing and fled the scene in a black Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Marquis. The vehicle had tinted windows and no hubcaps. The vehicle was last seen fleeing into Prince George's County at a high rate of speed. The suspect is described only as a black male. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer M. Davidson is investigating.
