The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is now offering a grant program to help fund solar energy projects for individuals, local government, schools, nonprofits and businesses.
Eligible solar energy systems are photovoltaic solar electricity and solar water heating. Grant amounts are limited to the following categories:
Solar Water Heating: 20% of system cost up to a total grant amount of $2,000 (for a total system cost of $10,000 or more).
Residential Photovoltaics: 20% of system cost up to a total grant amount of $3,000 (for a total system cost of $15,000 or more).
Nonresidential Photovoltaics: 20% of system cost up to a total grant amount of $5,000 (for a total system cost of $25,000 or more).
Governor Robert L. Ehrlich signed the Solar Energy Grant Program into law in 2004, following General Assembly approval. The Maryland Energy Administration is now accepting applications for the program. Funds are limited. The application deadline is May 16, 2005.
