Crack and Prostitution in Lexington Park


On 03/09/05 DFC Frank Fowler and DFC Todd Fleenor responded to Liberty Street for a reported disturbance. They made contact with George Paul Curtis Jr. and advised why they were there. They gained permission to check the residence to check on the female they had observed. While doing so a plate with CDS residue was observed in the bathroom. DFC Fleenor observed two plastic bags containing crack cocaine floating in the toilet. George Curtis, 49 of Lexington Park was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of CDS-Crack Cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The value of the crack cocaine recovered was $980.00 the marijuana was valued at $20.00

On 03/09/05 DFC Eric S. Walker served a criminal summons on Brenda Lee Alvey. The criminal summons charges Brenda Lee Alvey, 30 of Lexington Park with one count of Prostitution-general. DFC Walker's investigation revealed that he observed Alvey exiting a vehicle on Great Mills Road and the vehicle drove hurriedly away. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was interviewed. Based upon his investigation and interviewing the driver, who admitted to paying Alvey for sex.

On 03/10/05 Deputy Terry Kile observed two vehicles stopped in the roadway behind the Mouse Trap in Mechanicsville. When he stopped to check on them a small pickup truck sped away. Deputy Kile broadcast a lookout for the vehicle which was stopped by TFC Steve VanBennekum on Mechanicsville Road. Deputy Kile conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Test on the driver who was identified as Darren Richard Downs, 42 of Mechanicsville. Downs was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Driving Under the Influence. The passenger in the vehicle Michael Lee Shaffier, 25 of Mechanicsville exited the vehicle and dropped his cigarettes, an open bottle of beer he had been drinking and an orange tube which was recovered and found to contain marijuana. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of CDS-Marijuana. The value of the marijuana was $20.00.
