On Tuesday, December 14, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners took action to proceed with the completion of the acquisition of the Lexington Manor properties. On Monday, December 20, 2004, immediately following a final meeting to accept the deeds to the north and south parcels, an announcement is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., in Room B of the Lexington Park Library, located at 21677 FDR Boulevard, in Lexington Park.
The Northern Parcel will be acquired for $3 million through the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF). Redevelopment plans for the Northern parcel include an option to retain the land as open space and an option for non-residential development consistent with the Air Installation Compatible Use Zone (AICUZ) requirements and the long term needs of the Department of Defense.
The Southern Parcel will be acquired for $3.5 million through funding provided by the Federal Community Development Block Grant Program, through the Maryland Departments of Business and Economic Development (DBED) and Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the Maryland Program Open Space, and the County. Plans to retain the Southern Parcel as open space are consistent with the requirements of the Program Open Space funding.
