Charles County Sheriff's Office Report for July 07, 2004


THEFT: On June 2 at 3:30 p.m., Officer K. Evans responded to J. C. Penny in the 11000 block of Mall Circle in Waldorf for the theft report. Investigation revealed a 16-year-old Waldorf girl allegedly concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. The girl was apprehended by a loss prevention officer and held until Officer Evans’ arrival. She was charged with Theft Less Than $500 and released to a parent.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on July 1, suspect(s) entered a residence on Mill Hill Road, stole a drill and drill bits and fled the scene. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Timko is investigating.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: On July 1 at 1:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 7100 block of Marshalls Corner Road in Pomfret for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Jason Raynard Green, 24, of La Plata was in possession of marijuana. Green was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free School Zone and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer K. Clark investigated.

THEFT: On June 30 at 2:18 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the La Plata Post Office in the 100 block of Centennial Street in La Plata for the theft in progress. Investigation revealed Henry Waverly Brown Jr., 50, of Washington D.C. and Clyde Evans Howard III, 47, of Washington D.C. allegedly stole merchandise and fled in a vehicle. The suspects were located in the vehicle in the 4700 block of Crain Highway shortly thereafter. The passenger, Brown, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. The driver, Howard, remained on the scene and investigation revealed he had a suspended license. Brown was charged with Theft Less Than $500, Theft More Than $500, Obstructing and Hindering, Resisting Arrest, Theft Scheme and Rogue and Vagabound. Howard was charged with Theft Less Than $500, Theft Scheme and Theft More Than $500. Both men are being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer R. Garret investigated.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On June 27 at 11:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Arthur Middleton Elementary School in the 1100 block of Copley Avenue in Waldorf for the citizen’s report of a suspicious person. The subject, Randy Jerome Tolson, 20, of Hughesville, was located at the entrance of the school and investigation revealed he was in possession of marijuana. Tolson was arrested and a subsequent search of his vehicle yielded more marijuana and a knife. Tolson was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Deadly Weapon on School Property. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer A. Celia investigated.

THEFT: Sometime between 2 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on June 26, suspect(s) forced entry into a dark green Honda Civic parked at a residence in the 11600 block of Cygnet Drive in Waldorf and stole a CD player. The suspect(s) also spray painted a gray Saturn parked at the residence. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer G. Barnhart is investigating.
