Award Winning Musical HONK to be Presented at Great Mills High School

The Board of Commissioners for St. Mary's County and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services are pleased to announce this year's Summerstock performance will be the award winning musical, "HONK!" This is a wonderful show for the entire family and is designed for all audiences.

The musical is based on the story of the ugly duckling - with a comedic twist. "Ugly" incites prejudice and fear and, finally, love and reconciliation from friends and neighbors. The show conveys the important message of acceptance, compassion and understanding for others. The production was awarded the 2000 Olivier Award for Best New Musical - winning against such heavyweights as "Mamma Mia" and "The Lion King."

Performances will be held at the Great Mills High School Auditorium from July 29 through August 1, 2004. Shows begin each evening at 7:00 P.M.; the Saturday matinee begins at 1:00 P.M. Admission for the show is: adults $10; $5 for children under age 10; Saturday matinee is $8 for adults and $4 for children under age 10.

Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance or arrive early on show nights to purchase tickets, as shows may sell out early. Tickets are currently on sale at the Recreation, Parks and Community Services Main Office, Administrative Annex Building, 23150 Leonard Hall Drive, in Leonardtown.
