St. Mary's County Police Report for July 01, 2004


July 1, 2004 at approximately 6:00 p. m. Dfc. Robert Merritt was at the St. Mary's Square in Lexington Park, MD. He discovered tow subjects very intoxicated, yelling and arguing. They were told to leave the area but only walked a short distance and continued to yell and argue. Both were again told to be quiet. They both continued to yell. Dfc. Merritt arrested Gerald Anthony Knott, age 34 of Lexington Park, MD and Joseph Aloysius Young, age 49 of Lexington Park, MD. Both were charged with Disorderly Conduct and Fail to Obey a Lawful Order. Both were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they await arraignment before a District Court Commissioner.

June 30, 2004 Dfc. Edward Evans was patrolling on Golden Beach road in Mechanicsville, MD. He observed a Ford Escort blocking the roadway. The subject in the driver's seat was identified as Jason Stewart Hood of Waldorf, MD. On the passenger seat of the vehicle was dollar bill rolled up and a white substance, suspected cocaine. A further check of the vehicle revealed a plastic wrapper containing suspected cocaine. Jason Hood was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Jason Hood was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending arraignment before a District Court Commissioner.

July 1, 2004, Dfc. Christopher Morley arrested Christina Marie Fetty on a warrant charging Theft under $500.00. The warrant was a result of an investigation by Dfc. Robert Russell at the A&E Motel in Lexington Park, MD. Christina Fetty and a co-defendant in the theft took cash from the wallet of Alfonso Talalvera Mendoza. Christina Fetty is held at the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending arraignment before a District Court Commissioner.

July 1, 2004, Dfc. Donald Poole arrested Joseph Franklin Morgan on an open warrant for failing to appear District Court on an indecent exposure charge. Joseph Morgan is held at the St. Mary's County Detention Center on $3,500.00 bond.

July 1, 2004, Dfc. Christopher Morley charged Salvadore Leoni by Criminal Summons with Fourth Degree Sex Offense. The Charge was a result of an incident that occurred at a California Restaurant. A female of Mechanicsville MD reported that Salvadore Leoni grabbed her buttocks and breast. Salvadore Leoni was released pending a Preliminary Inquiry in District Court.

July 1, 2004, Dfc. Christopher Morley stopped a Pontiac Bonneville on Rt 5 at Rt 4, Leonardtown, Md for a registration violation. The driver, James Mark Kimble was operating under the influence of alcohol and failed roadside sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to the Detention Center. James Kimble is held pending arraignment before a District Court Commissioner.

July 1, 2004, Dep. Brian Connelly stopped a Ford Pick-up on Laurel Grove Rd at Morganza Turner Rd, Mechanicsville, MD for a speed violation. K-9 handler, Dfc. J. Frank Fowler with K-9 Sleober scanned the vehicle. The dog gave a positive indication for Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the passenger side of the vehicle a baggie of Marijuana was found with an estimated weight of 3/4 ounce valued at $225.00. The right front passenger, Jerry Wayne McGinnis, age 21 of Mechanicsville was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance. He is held at the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending arraignment before a District Court Commissioner.

Sheriff's Office Deputy John W. Cuisc located Joseph Gerard Denaro Sr. and arrested him on an outstanding warrant through the District Court. The warrant was for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Intoxicated. He is currently being held without bail.

Deputy First Class John W. Cusic responded to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and served Suspect Cottril Alvin Dickerson with an outstanding warrant. The warrant alleged that Suspect Dickerson, while incarcerated assaulted another inmate. Suspect Dickerson will be brought before the District Court Commissioner for disposition on bail or bond.

Dfc. Cara D. Grumbles responded to a reported fight in progress. While investigating the incident she conducted a wanted check on Suspect Michael Louis Wilson. The results of that check indicted Suspect Wilson was wanted for Failure to Appear in the Circuit Court on the original charge of Assault Second Degree. He is currently being held without bond pending an arraignment hearing.

Dfc. Stephen E. Myers observed two vehicles that appeared to be drag racing in the Lexington Park area. Dfc. Myers conducted a traffic stop and identified the operator as Suspect Melanie Sue Guy of Callaway Maryland. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and the Suspect displayed outward signs of intoxication. Suspect Guy failed a battery of roadside tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Sheriff's Office Deputy First Class Patrick H. Handy located and arrested Suspect Timothy Thomas Welch on an outstanding warrant through the District Court. The warrant was for charges of Theft under $500 and Assault Second Degree. The charges were the results of an investigation conducted by Detective First Class Margaret A. Smolarsky.
