LEXINGTON PARK, MARYLAND---The spring Twilight Market in the Park event is planned for Friday, June 13 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at Freedom Park in Lexington Park.
The free, outdoor family event will feature BMX demonstrations sponsored by Southern Maryland BMX, Inc., skateboard demonstrations sponsored by ARC Board Shop, motor cycle displays of the Flaming Knights of St. Mary's and the Blue Knights of Maryland IV, a watermelon seed spitting contest and prizes for all ages sponsored by the Watermelon Station Cafe, free face painting, the sweet sounds of Sweet T. Productions, and a special appearance by Michael Rosman who will perform "Amazing Feats of Comedy".
Farm fresh produce will be available for sale and the Bear Creek Bar-B-Que Restaurant and the Third District Optimist Club will offer food and beverages. The St. Mary's County Hospital Heath Connections Van will be on site with staff to provide free prostate cancer screenings and body composition analysis to determine individual muscle, fat and hydration. In addition, representatives of the American Red Cross of St. Mary's County, St. Mary's County Recreation and Parks, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, the United Committee for African-American Contributions, Southern Maryland Ride Share Program, Job Connections, Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services and the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Institute will be on hand to distribute literature and discuss services to the public.
Freedom Park is located at Tulagi Place and Three Notch Road (MD Rte. 235), near the former Lexington Park Library.
